Residential Weekends
Each year West Country Concertina Players offer two residential weekends of concertina playing for members and visitors alike. The weekends are structured so that there are workshops for each system and this enables those attending to concentrate on techniques to improve playing their own instrument and different styles of music.
A beginners weekend is held in October at Kilve Court, Kilve, West Somerset, designed for absolute beginners through to players who have reached an intermediate level.
In March WCCP hold their weekend at St Audries Bay, West Somerset, for players of all systems of concertina, from intermediate to advanced playing standard.
Invited tutors are at hand to take the various workshops which include, playing technique, song accompaniment, band playing and concertina repair/maintenance.
At the end of each weekend, after the Concert and the Cream Tea, there is the opportunity to stay over for an extra night when we have dinner together and play to our hearts content! It is a very relaxing and informal evening where we share tunes. Anyone is welcome to stay over - just ask the organisers who make the arrangements and they can tell you more about it.
A LIMITED NUMBER OF YOUTH BURSARIES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE ADVANCED WEEKEND IN SPRING 2013!!
